Summer Chok Chai Tour Rocked!

Hey everyone. Well, summer school moved into its second week. The "Miracle of Love Team" and the "Crazy Dogs" are tied for first place. The winner gets a free pizza party on the last day. I hope the winning teacher has enough money for all that pizza we're gonna eat. So, what's been happening lately. Well, on Thursday we all hopped on the tour bus bright and early. We arrived at the Chok Chai Farm around 1020. We had some free time before our 1120 am tour so we all hung out, had some Ummmmm! ice cream, did a bit of shopping and took lots and lots of photos. We also introduced Jim, a new AUA teacher from America, while Pat and Kung sorted out the tour tickets. Next, the tour kicked off with a video of the history of Chok Chai. It was very informative. Who knew it was and still is the largest dairy farm in South East Asia. After that we walked through the disinfectant and cleaned our hands to prevent any diseases for the cattle. Damo sure did need it though. Once we were inside we were treated to a milking demonstration. The tour, which was in English by the way, mentioned that the 5000 cows produce 80, 000 tons of milk a DAY! Now that's a lot of milk. Most of it gets transported to processing factories but some head straight for the pasteurization to be made into milk. Luckily we were treated with some samples. It was a hot day and it was a welcome treat. Then, we all hopped onto the wagon and toured past the smelly holding pens. Each pens had 48 cows. They explained the process of making hay for the feedlots and I couldn't help but notice how amazing the scenery was. The fresh air and mountain landascape really reminds me of home. I love Pak Chong. It's one of my favourite places in Thailand. Eventually we made it to the coral for the cowboy show and more ice cream. Ummmmm! After hanging out for a bit back on the wagon to the petting zoo. Last stop, the 2 tour hour journey ended up in the souvenir shop. But of course. But there was one more thing before be boarded the bus. STEAKBURGERS! Thanks to Jim Damo, Scott, Iris, Pat, Kung and all the wonderful students for a great trip. We hope to see you next year. Here are some pics. Enjoy!
