Crazy Pictionary 5 Minute Warm-Up For Level 1 Beginners.

Okay, here is another kind of warmer. So you saw the Level 10 warmer in the media lab, well this is for a Level 1 in Damo's class. I think they were doing one of two things. They were either reviewing the new vocabulary they learned the class before or they were getting into some new vocabulary to introduce the theme of the lesson. I am not sure but whatever it was the students sure liked it. It's a crazy Damo hybrid of pictionary hotseat, except no one was sitting. This is about a 5 minute warmer just to switch them onto English for the the lesson and to have a bit of group interaction at the board which is always a laugh.

Learn English in our Media Lab

I would like to introduce you to the AUA Korat Multimedia lab. In this video clip, our teacher Dan asked the students to explore a few websites about a hiker who lost his arm in a climbing accident. The media room is often used in this way whereby students are discovering the theme of the lesson. They may have some focus questions to answer which are discussed in pairs or small groups. As you can see from the clip, the students are really into it and enjoy a bit of self directed learning.

AUA Korat Christmas Party

Hey everyone. I know these photos are a bit late. But you know what they say, better late than never. Anyways, everyone seemed to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere this year with bobbing for apples, karaoke caroling, sponge toss, and especially the homemade burgers. I think they really were the best part of the whole afternoon. You'll have to pay a princely sum for my secret recipe. It was a great afternoon and I hope you all had fun. We look forward to another great year at AUA Korat. Next years party is going to be even better. Come join us, it's always for free and anyone can join us. Merry Christmas.

Korat Private School Fair

We always love a chance to get out and meet people in the community. The Korat Private School fair is a great way for folks to get out and ask questions about what is happening in the world of Korat Education. With many schools geared towards teaching young kids, AUA Korat still holds a special place in a niche market teaching adults. We did really feel like we stood out from the crowd. But it was also a great way to see what all the other schools are doing and to steal any cool ideas. Overall, what was impressive was the fact that education is now at the forefront of people's mind. There are private language schools and junior kindergarten classes such as Pluk Panya sprouting up everywhere. Who said competition was a bad thing. The upside is that there wouldn't be any supply if there weren't any demand. So English is hip and cool these days. Not only that, English can help you improve and broaden your horizons for the future. Maybe a nice high paying job abroad or right here in Thailand at an international company. The world is your oyster! If you would like to teach or study at AUA Korat contact us at 044 203 921-2.

Piano Perfection

AUA Korat hosted a wonderful evening of perfect piano with our special guest Mr. Roman Rudynsky. The day before Roam was kind enough to give an impromptu class for some AUA 2 students and give us a little taste of what was to come the following evening. With a packed house of over 300 people, Roman dazzled us with his skills and wowed the audience for over two hours. Along with the songs, he was always willing to offer a little history of the song and particular piece of music. This added a nice touch and gave us a greater appreciation for the songs he was playing knowing where they come from and inspiration behind them. We thank you for a great evening and hope you return once more.

Grilled Food Festival

With some special helpers, AUA korat had a BBQ to sell hamburgers, hotdogs and chicken kebabs at this years Grilled Food Festival. 4 days of hard work but lots and lots of fun. Thanks everyone for your help, generosity and support.

Summer Chok Chai Tour Rocked!

Hey everyone. Well, summer school moved into its second week. The "Miracle of Love Team" and the "Crazy Dogs" are tied for first place. The winner gets a free pizza party on the last day. I hope the winning teacher has enough money for all that pizza we're gonna eat. So, what's been happening lately. Well, on Thursday we all hopped on the tour bus bright and early. We arrived at the Chok Chai Farm around 1020. We had some free time before our 1120 am tour so we all hung out, had some Ummmmm! ice cream, did a bit of shopping and took lots and lots of photos. We also introduced Jim, a new AUA teacher from America, while Pat and Kung sorted out the tour tickets. Next, the tour kicked off with a video of the history of Chok Chai. It was very informative. Who knew it was and still is the largest dairy farm in South East Asia. After that we walked through the disinfectant and cleaned our hands to prevent any diseases for the cattle. Damo sure did need it though. Once we were inside we were treated to a milking demonstration. The tour, which was in English by the way, mentioned that the 5000 cows produce 80, 000 tons of milk a DAY! Now that's a lot of milk. Most of it gets transported to processing factories but some head straight for the pasteurization to be made into milk. Luckily we were treated with some samples. It was a hot day and it was a welcome treat. Then, we all hopped onto the wagon and toured past the smelly holding pens. Each pens had 48 cows. They explained the process of making hay for the feedlots and I couldn't help but notice how amazing the scenery was. The fresh air and mountain landascape really reminds me of home. I love Pak Chong. It's one of my favourite places in Thailand. Eventually we made it to the coral for the cowboy show and more ice cream. Ummmmm! After hanging out for a bit back on the wagon to the petting zoo. Last stop, the 2 tour hour journey ended up in the souvenir shop. But of course. But there was one more thing before be boarded the bus. STEAKBURGERS! Thanks to Jim Damo, Scott, Iris, Pat, Kung and all the wonderful students for a great trip. We hope to see you next year. Here are some pics. Enjoy!

Crazy Dogs Get The Pizza..

<>CRAZY DOGS. After
three weeks of battling it out with "The "Miracle of Love" and the "BG Gangsters", Damo's group or the Crazy Dogs took the top prize after a three way tie was broken with a Bowl-Off. Congratulations to the Crazy Dogs. Thank you to all the wonderful summer school students who studied with us. We had a rockin summer!! It was truly our best and most exciting summer program here at AUA. Damo, Scott and Iris worked hard and did a great job despite the scorching temperatures. We hope to see you all next summer. It's Hot at AUA Korat!

Summer Course 2008 is the most popular ever at AUA Korat. We have the most number of students studying in the Summer Program that any other time before. Thanks to all the parents and the students for coming and enjoying the school spirit of summer.

Today was a great day for our classes. There were many groups competing for their team points. The three class team names are "The Crazy Dogs" , "The Miracle of Love" and the "BG Gansters".

Today the Crazy Dogs gained another point for the top prize, a pizza party for the end of the term. Today's challenge was especially exciting. Out of newspapers the teams had to plan, design and build the highest tower out of newspaper.

In the end, it was amazing to see how many towers reached the tallest point, the ceiling at about 12 feet. But there could only be one winner. A team from Damo's class took the top prize with the tallest freestanding tower.
Congratulations Crazy Dogs.

Happy Halloween 2007

Another year nearly gone by and what an exciting and interesting one it was. Recently, AUA Korat hosted their second annual Happy Halloween Celebrations for 2007. Everything from witches and wizards to goblins and ghosts showed up. The first day there were a few people dressed in costume. But the next day and the weekend classes had lots of spirit!. AUA Korat gave away 6 Free scholarships to the lucky winners of the Costume Draw. Those students could then study for one term for free at AUA Korat in 2008.
I hope you enjoy the pictures, and keep an eye out for our upcoming Christmas Celebrations. Maybe you can win a prize to study for FREE too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arrrrrgh matey.
